KOREAN LANGUAGE COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

FAC is pleased to announce that Korea Social Service is offering four scholarships for Korean adoptees who wish to go to Korea and attend a course to learn the Korean language. To qualify for a scholarship adoptees must:

Be at least 20 years of age
Have earned at least a high school diploma
Have not previously visited Korea

KSS will pay the tuition fees for a maximum of 10 weeks of language education at any university located in Seoul, South Korea. The scholarship will also include payment for accommodations; it is preferred that attendees choose a university where they can reside in on-campus housing.

Please contact FAC for more information regarding this wonderful opportunity to visit Korea and learn the Korean language. Korean Culture Camp

Please join us for a week of Korean culture activities at the 23rd Annual Korean Culture Camp of Michigan (KCCM). It will be held June 25-29, 2012 at MacDonald Middle School, 1601 Burcham Dr., East Lansing, MI 48823. KCCM focuses on teaching Korean heritage to any child with an interest in Korean culture. The Kalamazoo, MI office has closed. Please direct all mail to the main FAC office in Utica, MI. The Utica office remains in the same building, but is located in a new suite. Office staff can still be reached at 586-726-2988. Please see the contact us tab for address details.

The Ohio office of FAC has relocated from Macedonia to Ravenna, Ohio. Please submit all correspondence to 705 Oakwood Street, Suite 208, Ravenna, OH 44266. Office staff can be reached by calling 330-296-2757.

Republic of Korea Program Update

With great regret and sadness we must announce that Korea Social Service, the agency FAC partners with to place Korean children with adoptive families in the United States, has determined they will no longer be able to continue an adoption program. FAC has been working with KSS for 25 years, and has assisted more than 3,000 children join adoptive families. It is incredibly sad that this wonderful experience is ending for us. We know this news will be met with great sadness by all of the families who have been created by the alliance between Korea Social Service and Family Adoption Consultants. As one adoptive mother stated when I shared the news with her, "KSS is part of my family". Korea Social Service has asked us to assure adoptees and their families that they will continue to provide post-adoption services. We suggest that you contact FAC with questions rather than contacting KSS directly. Thank you for your patience as we make this challenging transition.
